WWII Vets Honored in Glenville

Honored to attend a ceremony Thursday morning that recognized some Heroes from WWII.  It took place at the Glenville McDonald’s.  New York State Senator Jim Tedisco presented Dr. Tom Smith, Sal Famularo, and Tom Lemme the New York State Senate Liberty Medal, the state’s highest award for service.  All three of these WWII Vets served during the battle of Iwo Jima.  All three have Purple Hearts.

I’ve gotten to know these three over the years.  They’ve traveled on Leatherstocking Honor Flights.  I had the privilege of driving Dr. Tom and Sal to Washington, DC so they could be part of a wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery.  My wife Rhonda, and I,  had the opportunity to take Dr. Tom to New Orleans so he could have his oral history recorded at the National World War II Museum.

Now you can hear about Dr Tom and Sal’s experience on Iwo Jima during the war at the link below.  That will take you to the new podcast series I’ve started to recognize our Veterans and Active Duty service people (available on the iHeart Radio App).  Hope you enjoy all the podcasts that are available so far and we are just getting started.  Vets Rock on PYX 106
