Actor Jim Carrey gave the induction speech for Soundgarden, and was joined towards the end by Chris Cornell's oldest daughter Lily from his first marriage. She said, "I am just really, really happy that he got to make music with his friends. At the end of the day, that’s what it’s all about. I know how much purpose that gave him, and how much it’s meant to people who have heard that music. That’s what I’ll be holding in my heart tonight.” And her dad's friends were joined by other friends for their performance.
The late Warren Zevon finally got his due and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on Saturday night in Los Angeles, despite being eligible for induction since 1995, which was 25 years after the release of his first album, 1970's Wanted Dead or Alive.
