The Egg in Albany will throw open its doors for a free open house event on Saturday (March 14), inviting families and adults to explore the renovated venue with arcade games, movie screenings, live DJs, and more. The event marks the first open house since The Egg completed major renovations last year.

According to The Egg’s official event page, the open house runs from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. for all ages, geared especially toward families with children. From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., the festivities shift to an adults-only hangout for guests 18 and older. Visitors can enjoy free arcade games, the popular video game Rock Band emceed by Typhoid Mary—named the 2025 Best Drag Performer by The Times Union—and a selection of classic movies.

The movie lineup features 'The Muppets Movie' at 2 p.m., 'Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory' at 4 p.m., and 'Grease' at 6 p.m. Throughout the afternoon, DJ Mercy from Paper Moon bookstore in Troy will play B-side jazz funk while hosting a comic book and zine pop-up. In the evening, DJ Scotia will take over with house and techno music.

Stewart’s Shops will serve free scoops of a custom ice cream flavor, Mint Cookie EGGcellence, created in collaboration with The Egg. Attendees can also tour the updated building and see upgrades made during the recent renovations, as reported by NEWS10 ABC.

Admission is free, but The Egg suggests a $15 donation to support future programming. Guests are asked to RSVP online so organizers can prepare for the crowd.

The event is supported by the Albany County Arts & Culture Grant Program through the Advance Albany County Alliance. Organizers hope the open house will showcase the venue’s new features and foster community engagement.
