Albany County is hosting its annual child safety seat checkup event tomorrow (April 19) at the Crossgates Mall JC Penney Overflow Lot in Guilderland. The event will run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and is part of the Albany County Traffic Safety Program's ongoing efforts to ensure children's safety in vehicles.
The safety check is free and open to the public. It has been a staple of the county's community outreach for over 20 years. The program is designed to educate parents and caregivers about the proper installation and use of child safety seats, which is crucial since car crashes are the leading cause of death for children aged one to 13.
The event is hosted in partnership with the Albany County Department of Public Works and Capital Region Safe Kids. According to the New York State Traffic Safety website, the initiative aims to reduce the risk of injury by ensuring that child safety seats are correctly installed and used.
For more information about the event, visit the Crossgates Mall website. Attendees are encouraged to bring their child safety seats, vehicles, and children to the event for a comprehensive check.
