The New York State Fair has announced its first concert for 2025, featuring the legendary rock band Cheap Trick. The band will perform at Chevy Court on Thursday, August 21, at 6 p.m. Known for hits like "The Flame," "Dream Police," and "I Want You to Want Me," Cheap Trick's performance is included with the fair's $8 daily admission for adults.
Cheap Trick, inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016, has been a staple in rock music since the 1970s. Their album "Cheap Trick at Budokan" is a classic, and their song "Surrender" is considered a quintessential teen anthem.
The fair, which runs from August 20 to September 4, will feature a total of 41 concerts. The event is part of a larger initiative, supported by a $35 million budget from Governor Kathy Hochul, to enhance the fairgrounds into a year-round venue. Improvements include upgrades to stages, lighting, and infrastructure, making the fairgrounds a premier destination for events throughout the year.
Fair Director Julie LaFave expressed excitement about the upcoming performance, stating, "Cheap Trick is part of the fabric of pop culture and is sure to have fairgoers on their feet."
