President Donald Trump announced the purge of more than 1,000 appointees from former President Joe Biden's administration, which included retired General Mark Milley and celebrity chef Jose Andres, the New York Post reports.

Trump fired off the "official notice of dismissal" to four Biden appointees in a post on his Truth Social account at around midnight.

“Our first day in the White House is not over yet! My Presidential Personnel Office is actively in the process of identifying and removing over a thousand Presidential Appointees from the previous Administration, who are not aligned with our vision to Make America Great Again,” Trump wrote.

“Let this serve as Official Notice of Dismissal for these 4 individuals, with many more, coming soon,” he added.

Milley's dismissal came hours after he, Dr. Anthony Fauci and members of the committee that investigated the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol were pardoned by Biden to protect them from being potential "revenge" targets of Trump hours before the latter took office on Monday (January 20). The retired U.S. Army general served as the Joint Chiefs of Staff from October 2019 to September 2023 and detailed Trump's conduct around the Jan. 6 insurrection, publicly calling him a fascist.

Trump, who previously served as the 45th president, became the first president since Grover Cleveland to serve two non-consecutive terms.
