We have connected to many people from around the country and the world. We also continue to tap into our own area to find some great people and JLynee is one of those people. One of the most hard working and determined crushes that we've featured, JLynee's energy is infectious just from having a quick conversation with her.
She's a 36-year-old DJ, influencer, mother, and creator who calls both Albany and Kingston her home. Give her a follow on Instagram to keep up with all of her latest moves, and trust us there are a lot. This girl is busy, but just wait because one day you're going to see her go to some big place. We're just glad we caught her before she fully catches on fire.
We had the chance to catch up with here for a few questions.
What do you love the most about being a DJ?
I guess what I Love most about being a DJ... is the journey I traveled to get to where I am now. I started NewSchool of Radio & Television in 2008 and it’s been a most wonderful adventure since. Being a DJ and On-Air Personality for the last 12 years has been extremely rewarding and given me the confidence to be empowered in my messages and interactions on and off air. I love being able to host. Period! I love the people, the culture, the beats, the behind the scenes, the equipment, the controller, the artists, the venues, the Studio, the station ... all that. I know for me the thing I love most about being a deejay is that I didn’t even know how to be one I just knew it was my destiny. I was 12 driving in the car with my Dad listening to the radio... I said “I wanna be on the radio! How do I become that?!!!” And here I am now. Loving every second.
If you could give one piece of advice to your younger self what would it be?
Damn, my younger self was all over the place... I would tell my younger self, DON'T RUSH, TRUST THE PROCESS AND DON'T BE SO REACTIVE.... and I wrote this in capitals to make a point.... to even my older self. Constant reminders for myself that Growth, Mastery and Confidence come with time. Patience has never been my strong suit and I’m well aware that I’m only human. I’d tell young JLyneé go be GREAT and shine bright like the diamond you are, beloved.
What is one thing you couldn't live without?
One thing I couldn’t live without... My two daughters. When everything’s over and the lights go out ... my kids are the only energy that’s never failed me. They are the legacy that continues to shine and grow. Without them.. there’s no Me.
Pizza or burgers?
Ugh.. so I never used to eat burgers like that. But idk my body must be changing because I will tear up a Bacon Cheeseburger on site. Pizza is good and all that.... but for me Cheeseburgers got me.
