For those of you who aren't familiar with the lovely and talented Kate Ovens, she's literally the definition of "don't judge a book by its cover." Kate takes on some of the biggest food eating challenges we've ever seen, and does it all with a smile on her face.
The 23-year-old hails from England and you may have seen her pop up on your Facebook feed. She's a big star on Social Media. She;s even gotten to work with Adam Richman, you know him from "Man vs Food."
We first discovered her when we saw her take on the 28oz Jam Burger challenge. We're still not sure how she fits all this food into such a small body. Magic is probably the answer.
We recently got to ask Kate a few questions in between food challenges.
1. When did you first discover your love of food?
Since I was a child. I was slightly chubby growing up (not fat at all - just on the chubby side). I decided to lose all the weight when I was around 16/17, but I still had the same appetite.
2. How did you get into eating challenges?
I found a challenge in Newcastle Upon Tyne when I was at uni. I went with a few friends and was the only person to finish it within the time limit of 20 mins (my friend did finish, but it was about 2 mins after sadly). The photo then went to LADbible and I was influenced to make a Facebook Page/YouTube accounts after much persuasion - I was quite hesitant haha
3. How do you train for one of your challenges?
I don't really 'train' as I wouldn't class myself as a proper 'competitive eater'. But I just don't eat before my challenge and hope for the best haha. Am always trying to up my exercise regime but it's super difficult now that I'm living in London and super busy.
4. What's the cheesiest pickup line you've heard?
I don't know to be honest. British guys aren't usually ones for pick up lines.
5. What was it like working with Adam Richman?
Adam Richman was FAN-TAS-TIC. I cannot regard someone more highly than I do Adam. For someone who is as well known as him - for someone to give each individual person so much time was wonderful to see. He exceeded my expectations by miles and is a fantastic presenter. Great vocabulary and made me feel so welcome on stage when presenting with NFL. I would be happy to work with him again and we had stayed in touch since :)
