Despite being linked to the project since 2010 and his uncanny likeness to the “Bohemian Rhapsody” singer, Sacha Baron Cohen has backed out of a forthcoming Freddie Mercury biopic after creative differences with the remaining members of Queen who yield script and director approval and intend to make their late frontman’s biopic a family-friendly and PG experience.

The film, whose producers include Robert Deniro, GK Films and Queen Films, will move ahead with another actor in the role of Mercury, although production may be delayed until a suitable replacement for Cohen is found.

Currently, Queen is touring with Adam Lambert filling in for Eddie Mercury as the band's lead singer. I wonder if Deniro could work some movie magic on Lambert's acting abilities because the kid definitely nails Freddie's lead vocals.
