It's been exactly 30 years that people have been blaming Sammy Hagar for their speeding tickets.

The latest celeb to use the "I Can't Drive 55" excuse? Sarah Palin. The former vice-presidential candidate was stopped in her hometown of Wasilla, Alaska on July 16th going 63 in a 45 MPH zone in her Toyota Tundra. Palin, who will be paying a $154 ticket, tells TMZ, "I wasn't speeding, I was qualifying." She didn't accept total blame, saying "I Can't Drive 55" came on the radio and contributed to her lead foot.

Hagar's album VOA, which contains "I Can't Drive 55," was released on July 23rd, 1984. "I Can't Drive 55" peaked at number-25 on the Billboard Hot 100 that summer.
