Tonight (Thursday) Paul McCartney will close out the venue where The Beatles played their last official concert.
San Francisco's Candlestick Park is slated for demolition in the upcoming months and the final event for the stadium is the McCartney show that will draw a sold-out crowd of 49,000 fans. The promoters say McCartney's show will feature more than 900 pyrotechnic effects, which is a lot more than his usual stadium show. The promoters are also not covering the field as they usually do since it is the final event there.
McCartney and The Beatles performed at Candlestick Park on August 29th, 1966. They did 11 songs in about 35 minutes. It's a safe bet to say that Macca's show will be a bit longer -- he's been doing more than 35 songs for two and half hours at his stadium dates this summer.
