The KISS and Def Leppard tour gets underway tonight (Monday) in Salt Lake City, Utah. It will hit 42 cities before wrapping up on August 31st in Woodlands, Texas, just outside Houston.

It is a co-headlining tour with each band doing roughly 90-minutes. For KISS it's their 40th anniversary tour and they will be closing each night. Paul Stanley tells us that having to shorten their set only means more meat on the bone for the audience. "When you cut the set somewhat shorter, you don't lose as much as you cut away a lot of the fat. So, everybody gets that much more in terms of pure beef."

And for Def Leppard, singer Joe Elliott tells us they don't mind going on first.
