Judas Priest release their new album today, Redeemer of Souls, and if singer Rob Halford has his way, there will be more to follow.
He says, "I think we're probably more invigorated and more excited than we’ve ever been, and that’s extraordinary 40 years later that you feel that way. I think it really embodies the love and passion that we have for everything that Judas Priest stands for... So I would say that there’s more to come, as Johnny Carson used to say."
Halford, who turns 63 next month, adds, "I've always kind of joked that when I'm in my 80s, I'll be in a little dive bar in Las Vegas with a piano player and a glass of Jack Daniels -- 'cause I'll probably start drinking again then -- and I'll be going, 'Remember this one!'"
Back in 2011 -- just before he hit the big six-oh -- we asked Halford about still donning the leather at his age. He told us, "Whatever you get from Priest is the real deal and we're very proud of our achievements. And we can legitimately walk on stage looking like we do, putting the shows on that we do, and performing like we do, and people to look at it and go, 'That's great, that's what we want, that's the band we love.' And so we don't have to second guess or think about anything."
Priest will start a tour in support of the new album on October 1st in Rochester, New York.
