The Doobie Brothers will be joined by Sara Evans, Brad Paisley, Blake Shelton and The Zac Brown Band on their upcoming album of reboots. Rolling Stone got the scoop on Southbound, which goes on sale November 4th. Also contributing to the record is Amanda Sudano Ramirez, daughter of the late Donna Summer.
Drawing on the popular trends of tribute albums and duets collections, Southbound features 12 new recordings of Doobies songs. It's the band's first album since 1976 on which both Tom Johnston and Michael McDonald sing lead.
Johnston tells Rolling Stone, "Country has changed since the days of Hank Williams. It's taken on a rock tinge. Truthfully, the traditional style of rock and roll has kind of gone away. No one is representing it the way it used to be represented. Country music has sort of picked up the slack. That's why those artists are huge right now."
