Def Leppard finished their latest writing and recording session for their next album on Sunday at singer Joe Elliott's studio in Dublin, England minus guitarist Vivian Campbell. It was reported in May that he would not be joining the band in order to undergo more treatment for cancer. But he also went in for back surgery.
We spoke to Elliott yesterday (Monday) and he told us, "He needed to rest for that... He's in good spirits and it all looks like it's going in the right direction, but there was just no point in adding extra pressure to him and to his recovery and we need him fit for the tour." The summer tour with KISS starts on June 23rd in Salt Lake City, Utah.
As for the next album, Elliott says the recent two-week session yielded "three or four more new songs. We've got about 15 things percolating at the moment, which we will come back and finish after the tour."
