Randy Bachman and Fred Turner reunited with BTO band-mates Robby Bachman and Blair Thornton Sunday night as the band was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. Held as part of the Juno Awards, the nation's counterpart to The Grammys, the honor was especially moving, as it was held in the band's hometown of Winnipeg.
Both Bachman and Turner -- who have their own band separate from BTO these days -- noted how their road to fame began in Winnipeg. Randy made special note of their long-time manager Bruce Allen, whom he credited as "our fifth wheel, the driving wheel, the steering wheel" of their success.
The honor also seemed a big step toward healing a rift between the long-estranged Bachman brothers. The Canadian Press says Randy and Robbie were joking backstage -- talking about meeting at this fall's Grey Cup football championship -- and shook hands on stage during the ceremony televised across Canada.
