Brian Johnson received an honorary degree this week (Wednesday) from Northumbria University in his hometown of Newcastle, England, says AC/DC are done recording their new album in Vancouver.

He says, "It was brilliant over there. I'm very excited and we've got some great songs. I wanted to call the album Man Down, but it's a bit negative and it was probably just straight from the heart. I like that." That title is in reference to rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young's leave of absence due to health issues. "We miss Malcolm, obviously. He's a fighter. He's in hospital, but he's a fighter. We've got our fingers crossed that he'll get strong again."

Taking Malcolm's place is his and his brother Angus's nephew, Stevie Young. Johnson adds, "Malcolm's nephew was magnificent, but when you're recording with this thing hanging over you and your workmate isn't well, it's difficult... He's such a strong man. He's a small guy, but he's very strong. He's proud and he's very private, so we can't say too much. But fingers crossed, he'll be back."

The album, the band's first since 2008's Black Ice, should be out this year. Like Black Ice, it was produced by Brendan O'Brien.
