A truck loaded with silver and gold rolls over Monday morning on the Thruway.
A government contractor was transporting large mechanical filter-like cores that are used in military aircraft when he rolled his U-Haul onto its side at mile marker 417 of I-90 eastbound.
When troopers arrived the driver (who was not injured) told them his cargo was made up of about 2 million dollars worth of gold and silver.Troopers secured the scene and then arranged for an armored vehicle to offload the precious metals.
The cause of the accident is under investigation. No other vehicles were involved.
