While waiting for the rest of his foursome in his Monday night league at Thunderhart Golf Course in Greenville, an 80-year old man suffered an apparent heart attack, witnesses said.
“He was waiting for his group and was sitting on the bench in front of the clubhouse,” Dorothy Wood tells WGY. She is also in the Mixed League. It happened around 4:45 p.m. and while someone called for help, two other league members, trained nurses, gave him CPR. He had stopped breathing.
“He was fortunate he had two nurses here at the clubhouse to help him,” Wood said Tuesday.
Soon after, State Trooper Felix Donnelly arrived with his AED, a portable defibrillator, and was able to successfully revive him, according to an NYSP release.
The man was then rushed by Greenville Ambulance to Albany Medical Center and admitted.
