A former police officer from Nassau County who was working as a part-time security guard at GlobalFoundries is now charged killing his wife.

On Sunday, Saratoga County Sheriff’s Deputies went to 9 Meadow Rue Place to check on the welfare of Kathleen Wilkinson, who had not been heard from or seen in a few days, authorities said.

After a conversation at the front door, husband Charles Wilkinson allowed the Deputy to enter and he found the body of the 65-year old Kathleen on the floor of a first floor bedroom, according to a release by Saratoga County District Attorney James A. Murphy III.

Charles L. Wilkinson, 69, is charged with second-degree murder and was arraigned in Malta Town Court. He was sent to the Saratoga County Jail without bail.

The Sheriff says she was strangled to death during a physical domestic dispute and that her husband continued to live there.

Wilkinson retired as a patrol officer in 1984 from the Nassau County Police Department, authorities said.
