Police say a suspected graffiti artist from Rensselaer was busted with a bag of 15 cans of spray paint.
It happened early Monday morning on Central Avenue when two officers on patrol – Daniel Seeber and Jason Wilson – spotted a man underneath the railroad bridge near Vatrano Road.
The bridge has been a frequent target of vandals and neighbors had repeatedly complained so there had been extensive time and effort to cover up the graffiti, police said.
Erik Savage, 22, of Rensselaer, was arrested around 12:30 a.m. Monday and found in possession of approximately 15 cans of different colored spray paint, police said. He also had gloves and liquid paint, police said, and was taken into custody without incident and charged with Possession of Graffiti Instruments. Savage was arraigned in the Albany City Criminal Court and released.
