Stargazers are in for a special treat Sunday night and early Monday morning as both a huge meteor shower and a supermoon will light up the sky.

Nearly 100 shooting stars an hour will be passing through the night sky when the annual Perseid meteor shower takes place.

That will coincide with the supermoon which happens when the moon orbits closer to the earth than usual, making it appear bigger and brighter than normal.  The supermoon will peak early  Sunday night.

The meteor shower will peak at around 5:00am Monday.
