The bridge that connects Troy and Waterford has been reopened after being closed Friday after an inspection found a safety defect. The 126th Street Bridge carries Route 4 over the Hudson River.
Crews worked Saturday on an emergency repair to allow the bridge to be reopened.
Here's more from the NYSDOT statement:
Motorists are advised that the 126th Street Bridge carrying Route 4 over the Hudson River between North Troy/Lansingburgh and Waterford is open.
A 1½-inch crack was found in a diagonal support beam during the bridge’s routine bi-annual inspection this week and following analysis, NYSDOT closed the bridge at approximately 4 p.m. on Friday. The Department mobilized immediately to design and install an emergency repair, installing a cable to carry the tension load formerly carried by the cracked beam and allowing the bridge to reopen today at approximately 5:15 p.m.
